Political Candidate Jon Stewart | Vote Jon Stewart For Governor of Illinois 2017-06-25T23:45:51+00:00

About.

GETTING INVOLVED EARLY.

A native of The Far NW Side of Chicago, Illinois, Jon Stewart started getting involved in community efforts in his teens. Throughout high school, he spent plenty of time volunteering with charities and even with neighborhood clean ups. Choosing to attend the University of Memphis and later, playing football at North Park University, Jon Stewart graduated with a Bachelor’s in Counseling Psychology and went on to a career as a professional wrestler and eventually having a career at his families auto dealership. He is also an active investor in the stock market and real estate.

A CALL FROM HOME.

Frustrated at the high state taxes, regulations and unsustainable state debt and the holocaust occurring in the West and South sides of Chicago, Jon Stewart, felt a call to arms to run for Governor of Illinois.

Priorities

“One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” – Plato

Priorities.

BE INVOLVED, BE HEARD.

There are an endless number of issues that our community faces. And, how we decide to tackle them as a community is incredibly important. Education, public safety, and the economy are certainly at the top of the list; however, there are plenty of other issues that families and neighborhoods face on a daily basis that also need to be addressed. That is what Jon Stewart for Governor looks to help with.

Solutions don’t’ com easy. By listening and talking about ideas big steps toward finding solutions and common ground can be made. It’s how we can ensure our community is better off for everyone. If we work for it, it will happen.

Tax-hike proponents also want residents to believe the Illinois General Assembly has already passed all the structural reforms it can, and the only thing left to do now is to hike taxes by $7 billion to $9 billion – and that will fix everything.

But that narrative is false. The General Assembly has done nothing to stop Illinois’ downward spiral.

The Illinois Policy Institute’s 2018 Budget Solutions offers a plan that reverses the state’s failed course. The plan fills Illinois’ $7.1 billion budget hole, balances the state budget without tax hikes, provides tax relief to struggling homeowners through a comprehensive property tax reform package, and implements pension reforms that comply with the Illinois Constitution and will begin to end the pension crisis.

It also implements many of the spending and economic reforms Illinoisans instinctively know are needed to create more jobs, generate higher pay and provide a better living environment, including right-sizing state worker benefits, implementing savings for Medicaid and making higher education more affordable for students by reducing administrative costs.

The Institute’s plan is as follows:

MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

His decision to run for office in 1997 for the Illinois House of Representatives comes from wanting to make a difference in how people’s voices are heard. His love for the community is what drives him and his background is what makes him a good choice for Governor. However, Jon Stewart looks at serving the public as an honor and not a career.
